Originally I made this piece for a print feature in What the F Magazine. However, during the same time I made this piece I was taking a Serigraphy class, and thought this could be a fun piece to translate to screen printing due to the distinct separations of colors. It ended up being a bit of a challenge to line everything up but was worth it when I saw the final product.
For the colored t-shirts I mixed colors myself for each batch, and between the two designs, I ended up hand-printing about 30 t-shirts that I sold.
In addition to creating paper prints, I made two different t-shirt designs. One that incorporated all of the colors from the original piece, and the other that took the detailed outlines of the piece.
After initially printing my first batch of t-shirts by hand, after people saw them in person, a lot more started asking if they could get one as well. However, as I no longer had access to that studio, I decided to find an online source to ethically print and produce my t-shirt designs once again. I created little graphics from the prints I made before to advertise, adjusted the design a little to only have 5 colors to make it more affordable and did a reprint.
